Keeping Promises
There is an interesting analogy in the Surat an-Nahl. The resembling ones are those people who do not keep their promises when they get more power. The one who is resembled to is a woman who undoes the thread which she has spun, after it has become strong...
"Be not like those" is the order:
16:92. And be not like her who undoes the thread which she has spun, after it has become strong, by taking your oaths a means of deception among yourselves, lest a nation may be more numerous than another nation.
In our path, a promise that we make is a very important means. Making promises is a very serious matter. Trustworthiness is of the essence...always and everywhere. However on those days, like today, there had been people who did not keep their promises when they got more power, who only thought about their own selfish interests.
So this state of those people resembles a woman in a very interesting analogy: a woman who undoes the thread which she has spun, after it has become strong. There are different aspects in this analogy. On the one hand, there is unrighteousness and foolishness; on the other hand there is weakness which arises from that the one who gets the power prefers deception.
But yet;
16:92. (...) Allah only tests you by this. On the Day of Resurrection, He will certainly make clear to you that wherein you used to differ.
Indeed, the Day of Resurrection will be a very interesting day. Everything will become clear.
